What is workplace wellness?
Workplace wellness is any workplace activity or company policy that is designed to support or encourage healthy behavior or safety in the workplace. Workplace wellness initiatives improve employee health outcomes.
Why focus on wellness?
Employees are an organization’s most valuable asset. Creating healthy work environments and encouraging healthy behaviors can have a positive impact on employee health and job satisfaction.
Worksite wellness programs can:
Control or reduce your organization’s health care costs
Reduce employee absenteeism
Lower employee turnover
Attract and retain top talent
Reduce workers’ compensation costs, illness and disability
Companies of all sizes can create healthier work environments. Workplace wellness programs do not need to be complicated and expensive to work. Even the smallest changes to policies and environment can have a huge impact and improve your bottom line. For every $1 invested in workplace wellness, $6 is saved on medical and absenteeism costs.1
To make it even easier, mspWellness is here to help. The Chamber, with support from the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) and the Minneapolis Health Department (City of Minneapolis), is providing small to medium-sized companies with easy to implement tools and technical assistance.
Whether you want to better support your company’s new moms as they return to work, encourage better snacking habits in the break room, or encourage your employees to sit less and stand more, mspWellness can help.

48% of workers surveyed report that wellness benefits encourage them to stay in their current employment situation.
The Minneapolis Regional Chamber is excited to provide technical assistance to companies looking to enhance their workplace wellness initiatives.
How it works:
Complete the interest form below to get started. The form is short and should take no more than 5-7 minutes to complete.
Once the interest form is submitted, a chamber staff member will be in touch to discuss your company’s eligibility and program mspWellness requirements. If your company qualifies, you will be asked to complete an online pre-assessment so we know where to get started.
After the assessment is finished, it’s time to get to work. A worksite wellness consultant will meet with you and other members of your team to create a work-plan and set goals unique to your workplace.
Work-plans can be designed to enhance your current plan or build one from scratch. mspWellness encourages companies to focus on healthy eating and food choices, physical activity, mother-friendly, tobacco-free and stress management.
This partnership is made possible by the Minnesota Department of Health’s Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP), funding that serves as a powerful catalyst for creating healthier communities. Through SHIP, the Minneapolis Health Department partners with schools, neighborhoods, worksites and clinics to make sustainable community driven changes that help everyone eat healthy, be active and live tobacco free.
